Why this name, and why now

Labour is short, margins are tight and the technology now works in the field. Robots that pick fruit, kill weeds, milk cows and scout crops are moving from research plots into commercial farms, and the UK government is paying to speed that up. In August 2026 Defra opened a £20m farm robotics and automation competition, part of a £123m agri-tech package this year.

  • New grant money. The £20m Farming Innovation Programme round, run with Innovate UK, backs technology that plants, tends and harvests crops. For the first time it also covers livestock and forestry.
  • A clear policy target. Government has committed to getting robotic crop pickers "on a par with human pickers" within three to five years, alongside £50m for packhouse automation.
  • Labour pressure isn't going away. Horticulture still depends on seasonal worker visas. The route has been extended to 2029, but with the stated aim of automating more of the work.

Each of those changes sends farmers, start-ups, dealers and investors searching for clear, trustworthy information on farm robots. Nobody owns that answer yet. This domain is the obvious place for it.

04 · The name

Why it works

  • It says exactly what it is. Two plain words that match how farmers, reporters and investors describe the category, with nothing to explain or spell out.
  • .co.uk means UK. Grants, regulation and dealer networks are country specific. A UK address tells visitors the business serves them.
  • It covers the whole category. Pickers, weeders, milking robots, autonomous tractors and drones all fit under one name as the technology changes.
  • Easy to say and remember. It works on a phone call, a trailer banner or a stand at Cereals, LAMMA or the Royal Highland Show.
  • Credible from day one. A descriptive domain reads as an established player, which helps when you're asking farmers to trust a machine with their crop.
